March 27, 2007
The March 2007 meeting of the E-Learning Advisory Council
was held in the Natchitoches Room of Russell Hall at 1:30pm.

The December 2006 minutes were unanimously approved without
revision.
Old Business
Updates:
- Guests have been added to the Course Management System. A
general discussion followed regarding the possibility of qualifying
students to take on line classes based upon their ability to learn with
this mode of instruction.
- Title III –
- Password maintenance by individuals is under development
- Satisfaction survey with online services has been
prepared.
Council recommended that ECE seek administrative approval to post
questionnaire into online classes course folders.
- Mike Matthews was promised some technical assistance to
develop an online tutorial to guide students to the many resources
available through the Library.
New Business
- TurnItIn Plagiarism Detection software is now operational
and integrated with Blackboard. Training sessions and online tutorials
are available for students and faculty.
- Discussion followed on penalties for students who
plagiarize. Conflict exists between Student Handbook and Faculty
Handbook. Need to set up common rules. Invite Patrice Moulton and
Frances Conine to join council for a discussion of this issue at the next
meeting.
- Respondus Lock Down Browser under investigation. Locks
down computer to eliminate all computer access when a student logs into a
test. Nursing program will pilot the program March – August. Can be set
up for personal computers used by online students.
- CALL initiative. Targets adults across the state of Louisiana. Funded in January 2007 by BOR. Participants are NSU, BPCC, and SREB.
- BPCC is developing a 2 yr CIS degree fast track program.
- NSU is developing a General Studies degree completion program
with a concentration in
Business that includes credit for prior learning using PLA
- ECE is preparing to relocate to Dodd Hall.
